An AI file is a vector graphic file made with Adobe Illustrator. Vector fonts are important for a logo to be processed correctly. For non-vector fonts, another computer that does not have that same font will try to convert text into a font that it does have available.
It is therefore essential to use vector fonts in all texts for your images, otherwise your original font may be replaced.
