Bamboo grows very quickly and has the advantage of being very dense over a small surface, making it extremely productive. Bamboo can be turned into fibres and viscose. The industrial transformation process is heavy; a lot of water is needed and CO2 is emitted in order to obtain a raw material that can be used for production. Bamboo itself, in its raw state, is biodegradable but not compostable.
