OEKO-TEX® LEATHER STANDARD is a globally recognised testing and certification system for leather products that pose no health risks.

Created in 2017, it includes ready-to-wear clothing, luggage and accessories (small leather goods, gloves, shoes, covers, etc.). It guarantees that no leather from exotic animals (crocodiles, snakes, armadillos, etc.) is used, and also prohibits the use of specific toxic substances, in particular hexavalent chromium or chromium VI, which is produced during the treatment and tanning of hides.

The aim is to offer consumers a reliable way of ensuring that a leather item is not dangerous. This certification sets out minimum confidence criteria and guarantees that no substances toxic or harmful to human health or the environment are used (or that their concentration is too low to pose a proven risk).
