Polylactic acid is a biodegradable industrial composting polymer (T>60°C). Careful though – don’t be fooled into thinking that this polymer breaks down in your garden compost or even in the environment. This polymer can only be biodegraded via industrial composting. PLA is made from starch, often corn or potatoes.
