Transport

Transport is a key factor in a product’s environmental impact. The way in which goods are transported can significantly influence their overall carbon footprint. That is why we are constantly striving to optimise the transport methods used for our products and to prioritise the least environmentally damaging solutions.

At Inovacomm, we favour more responsible modes of transport wherever possible. In particular, we are among the companies that have developed solutions for importing goods by rail from Asia, a more sustainable alternative to air freight when timeframes allow. This approach enables us to reduce the environmental impact associated with the transport of goods whilst maintaining reliable logistics.

Transport optimisation also relies on close collaboration with our logistics partners. In Switzerland, we work in particular with Ritschard and Planzer, which enable us to transport a large proportion of our deliveries via night-time rail groupage to their sorting centres. The goods are then distributed by Euro VI lorries, currently among the least polluting in their category.

We also seek to minimise unnecessary transport by prioritising, where possible, direct deliveries to our clients’ markets, in order to avoid back-and-forth logistics and reduce the overall environmental footprint of projects.

Finally, logistics optimisation relies heavily on forward planning. The earlier projects are planned, the easier it becomes to prioritise more sustainable transport solutions, such as rail or sea freight. Our role therefore also involves supporting our clients in this planning process to reduce the environmental impact of transport whilst ensuring the reliability of deliveries.
