Recycled stainless steel
Stainless steel is one of the most recyclable and recycled materials in the world (approximately 90% of all stainless steel products are collected and recycled at the end of their life), as the process has already been proven by the industrial and construction sectors.
Steel products can always be transformed into other steel products, with relatively minimal need for iron ore extraction or ‘virgin’ steel production. The steel recycling process is much less harmful to the planet than iron ore extraction and processing.
The environmental impact of recycled steel is 0.63kg CO2 equivalent, which is 10 times less than conventional steel (6.8kg CO2 equivalent)! In addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, its manufacture requires 70% less energy, preserves soil and water, and recycles a material that would otherwise end up in landfill.
This material is ideal for the production of water bottles or travel mugs, for example.
