Aalma & Tables Suisse

Inovacomm is pleased to announce the two ngo's it has decided to support this year as part of its offsetting approach and in line with the sustainability goal (SDG) 10 ‘Reduced Inequalities’. These are Aalma and Table Suisse .

Aalma

The Lausanne-based organisation Aalma works for the integration and development of young migrants, in particular unaccompanied minors. Set up in 2017, it offers a variety of activities, including art workshops, sports classes (such as kickboxing or swimming), and educational camps. These initiatives aim to boost self-confidence, create intercultural links, and provide a space for expression and support for these young people, who often face complex and difficult life paths.

Aalma also focuses on raising public awareness of these young people's cultural richness and resilience, notably through events such as exhibitions and audiovisual presentations. The association relies on a team of volunteers and local partnerships to maintain its actions, thus actively contributing to a more inclusive and supportive society.

Table Suisse

Table Suisse is a Swiss charity founded in 2001. Every day, it collects more than 25 tonnes of surplus foodstuffs from retailers, large distributors and industry. This unsold food, which is still perfectly edible, is then redistributed free of charge to almost 500 social institutions such as shelters, centres for the homeless and food aid organisations throughout Switzerland.

We believe it's vital to combat food waste, given that 2.8 million tonnes of food are lost every year in Switzerland. That's equivalent to 330 kilos per person per year, or around a quarter of the greenhouse gases produced by our food (source).

At the same time, the association is actively helping to protect the climate: by saving this food from being wasted, the team avoids the emission of more than 10,600 tonnes of CO₂ every year.

The missions of these two ngo's have touched us deeply. Through this initiative, we hope, at our level, to help generate a positive impact within our community and to compensate where there is less room for manoeuvre.

If you too would like to support these associations, please get in touch via their respective websites: Aalma / Table Suisse and share their content on social networks.
