Compensation and support for 2021

Does "CO2 compensation" seem familiar to you? Inovacomm has been estimating the CO2 impact of its activities, and more specifically of all its custom-made product, since 2021 in collaboration with Nature Office. Even with our constant efforts along the value chain, including selecting materials or modes of transportation, there will inevitably be certain aspects over which we are sadly unable to have much of an impact. This collaboration with Nature Office allows us to intervene and mitigate our impact wherever we are limited.

How does it work? Consider the manufacturing process of a backpack. We provide Nature Office with the following information so that they can determine its CO2 equivalent footprint: the overall weight, the percentage composition of each material, and finally the mode of transportation (plane, train, boat, etc.). Thanks to that, Nature Office can determine the item's CO2 equivalent footprint using these information.

Afterwards, this carbon impact is converted into money. This amount, when added up over the course of a year and throughout all of our performances, will be invested to support neighborhood organizations financially as part of our commitment to the community. Thus, each year we will subsidize one or more associations that adhere to a specific theme in order to benefit our community and environment

The whole Inovacomm team votes to choose the association(s) to support for the upcoming year after a thorough pre-selection procedure. For 2021, Inovacomm will be supporting two projects: Cultive toi and Oppal.

In response to food waste, the concept of "Cultive toi" was developed, providing options for the preservation of unharvested fruit and vegetables in the region between Nyon and Vevey. For a variety of reasons (non-conformity, selection to preserve market price regulation, or lack of time during harvesting), tons of fruit and vegetables are not picked in Switzerland each year. The food collected in this manner is harvested, processed, distributed (via charity projects) or sold (through a solidarity grocery store) by the association and its volunteers. Our donation will enable them to finance processing equipment and consequently advance their charitable work.

Regarding Oppal, it is a relatively new association that was established in 2020 with the objective of developing projects that would encourage coexistence in the canton Vaud and Valais between wildlife and human activity. In addition to providing support in protecting susceptible herds from wolves and lynx attacks, it also runs an awareness-raising campaign in schools and secondary schools to educate the public about the ecology of native large carnivores, their effects on alpine agriculture, and the issues surrounding their conservation. Our donation will help them to continue and expand these essential educational initiatives, which are essential to us.

These two missions have particularly moved us, which is why we selected them. We hope that by taking this step, we will be able to spread positive impact across our community, even in a tiny way. We will soon be announcing the project that we will be funding for the business year 2022.

Please do not hesitate to contact these two associations via their website if you would also like to support them financially or as a volunteer. Together, we are stronger!
